Operating Plan for SMARTS2
Year 4 (2008B and 2009A)
This operating plan covers semesters 2008B and 2009A. Semester 2008B will begin on August 1, 2008 and continue through January 31, 2009. Semester 2008A will begin on February 1, 2009 and continue through July 31, 2009.
- 0.9m telescope + 2KCam.
7 nights user followed by 7 nights service. There may be additional service nights generated by consortium observers, as required by user demand.
- 1.0m telescope + 4KCam.
This telescope will be operated purely in traditional user runs.
- 1.3m telescope + ANDICAM.
All service observing. Individual projects should use less than one hour of time per night, with an upper limit of 3 hours per night, unless discussed in advance for the highest priority programs. Monitoring and ToO programs are encouraged. Changes in program should be received by the queue manager by 4pm Eastern time (weekdays) or noon (weekend).
- 1.5m+RCSpec or Echelle.
All service observing. In the A semester, no more than 2 hours per night can be used by programs other than the alpha Cen monitoring project. Users are strongly discouraged from visiting the telescope during the A semester.
*NOTE: A service night is equal to 1.5 x a user night.
